The exhibition “flora pondtemporary” transforms the Stiftsteiche (monastery ponds) in St. Florian into an area for contemporary art. This project was initiated by the artist-run space Kulturdrogerie in Vienna, which was founded in 2005. The sixth edition of the exhibition project “flora pondtemporary” in 2024 once more enables international artists, the inhabitants of St. Florian, and people interested in art and culture to engage in a conversation.
New artistic productions activate the infrastructure on-site and complement the exhibition project with performances, installations, sculptures, and sound objects. The themes of this year’s edition of “flora pondtemporary” are the dialectics of city and countryside, in addition to resources as well as migration and includes a musical aspect. The artists create site-specific works that explore global issues and topics while also being situated in a
local setting. In light of the increasing polarization of society, “flora pondtemporary” tries to find common ground regarding how democratic processes should be shaped. Social issues are not regarded as solely evolving between humans; they also develop as part of an ecological, holistic context.
